DAYTON - All court actions filed in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court will be done electronically within about a year, said James W. Drubert, court administrator.

According to the Environmental Defense Fund, the average American uses more than 700 pounds of paper per year. By comparison, the average American attorney uses one ton of paper per year, according to the Onondaga Resource Recovery Agency.

Iowa tests electronic filing of court documents

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Iowa is taking the first step toward a paperless court system.
Two counties -- Story and Plymouth -- have been selected to test an electronic court filing system, which will make all documents available to the public online. Installation is expected to be finished early next year.

CASE MANAGEMENT/ELECTRONIC CASE FILES (CM/ECF)

Nationwide implementation of the federal judiciary’s Case Management/Electronic Case Files (CM/ECF) systems is nearly completed in the district and bankruptcy courts and is advancing in the appellate courts. CM/ECF not only replaces the courts' old electronic docketing and case management systems, but also provides courts the option to have case file documents in electronic format, and to accept filings over the Internet.
